Seminar on “Experimental Study Design”

With an objective of encouraging the spirit of research and innovations, Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific organized a seminar entitled-.–“Experimental Study Design” on April 16, 2019.

Mr. Shyfuddin Ahmed was present as the keynote speaker. He is a scientist at icddr,b where he has been engaged as a professional researcher for about 7 years. He has received funding from reputed foreign organizations including NIH and NHLBI of USA for his research efforts. Mr. Shyfuddin Ahmed’s presentation included a fruitful guidance on how to design experimental study design, randomized control trials and various aspects of quasi-experimental design.

    

The seminar was attended by all the faculty members and students of various semesters of Department of Pharmacy. The seminar ended with appreciation from Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Head, Department of Pharmacy, UAP to the keynote speaker.

 

Seminar on ‘Mental Health @ University Campus & How to Deal with Study Related Stress

Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific organized a seminar on ‘Mental Health @ University Campus & How to Deal with Study Related Stress’ in collaboration with Sun Pharmaceutical (Bangladesh) Ltd. on 7th November, 2018.

Renowned psychiatrist and media personality Dr. Mekhala Sarkar, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) was the keynote speaker. The objective of this seminar was to make students familiar with the components of stress and proactive stress management skills. Later, Mr. Pintu Bhushan Mitra, Sr. Product Manager of Marketing Planning Department, Sun Pharmaceutical (Bangladesh) Ltd delivered a presentation regarding their company and corporate social responsibility campaign.

 

Seminar on ‘Sharing Research Ideas and Research Experience’

A seminar on ‘Sharing Research Ideas and Research Experience’ was organized by the Seminar Organizing Committee of Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific at UAP City Campus on 14 January, 2018. Dr. Isa Naina Mohamed, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia was invited as the keynote speaker.

Other invited guest speakers were Dr. Ima Nirwana Soleiman, Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; Dr. Md. Selim Reza, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka.

In the beginning, Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Head, Department of Pharmacy, UAP gave a presentation on the research activities and highlighted the achievements of the department.

Then the keynote speaker proceeded to share thoughts from his research experience. The seminar also involved discussions on quality of research and publishing in high impact journals. Md. Abu Sufian, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy, UAP conducted the seminar. The faculty members and the students were among the attendees.

 

Seminar on higher studies, 'Higher Studies Abroad: Prospects & Challenges'

The Pharma Science Club of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific organized an educational seminar on “Higher Studies Abroad: Prospects & Challenges” hosted by Graduate Resources Enhancing Center. The seminar was held on 22nd November, 2017 in the Department of Pharmacy, UAP. The purpose of this seminar was to familiarize students about the processes and requirements needed to make a successful application for higher studies abroad.

Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, UAP was present as the Chief Guest. The guest speakers of the seminar were Shishir Banik (IELTS Instructor, GREC) and Shuvo Kumar, (Faculty, GREC) who discussed about the two important exams IELTS and GRE and also other aspects relevant for higher studies abroad. At the end of the seminar, there was an interactive question and answer session where Dr. Mamoon Rashid (Assistant Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Appalachian Collage of Pharmacy, USA) joined the seminar through skype.

Lastly, Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan handed over crest to the guest speakers, Shishir Banik and Shuvo Kumar as a token of appreciation. The seminar was coordinated by Kaniz Afroz Tanni and Nishat Jahan, conveners of Pharma Science Club. More than a hundred students from different departments of UAP participated in this seminar. Faculty members of the Department of Pharmacy were present in the seminar as well.

 

 

Seminar on Pharmaceutical Operations, 'An Overview of Pharmaceutical Operations'

The Seminar Organizing Committee of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) arranged a seminar on 'An Overview of Pharmaceutical Operations' at the East Plaza of UAP City Campus on 6th February, 2017.

Mr. Md. Motiar Rahman, Director, Quality Assurance, Eskayef Bangladesh Limited addressed the seminar as guest speaker. He discussed various aspects of pharmaceutical operations in Bangladesh at great length.

Lecturer Md. Abu Sufian conducted the seminar and it was attended by the faculties, students and alumni. Later, Professor Dr. Swarnali Islam Khandaker, Head, Department of Pharmacy, UAP handed over an appreciation crest to the seminar speaker.

 

Seminar on  'Pharma Market & Marketing: Global & Bangladesh Perspectives'

  • 7th February, 2017 

 

A seminar on 'Pharma Market & Marketing: Global & Bangladesh Perspectives' was organized by the Seminar Organizing Committee of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific at the East Plaza of UAP City Campus on 7th February, 2017.

Mr. Tanbir Sajib, Director, Specialty Care, Sanofi Bangladesh Limited was invited as the guest speaker. The speaker discussed about the pharma marketing opportunities available at home and abroad and how best to utilize them.

The seminar was conducted by Lecturer Md. Abu Sufian and it was attended by the faculties, students and alumni. Later, Professor Dr. Swarnali Islam Khandaker, Head, Department of Pharmacy, UAP handed over an appreciation crest to the seminar speaker.

 

Seminar on "Abbreviated New Drug Application for Sterile Product"

Department of Pharmacy of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) arranged a seminar on "Abbreviated New Drug Application for Sterile Product" on February 02, 2017 at UAP City Campus. Mr. Mostafa Zaman, Senior Scientist, R& D, Akorn Pharmaceuticals, USA addressed the seminar as the Guest Speaker. Among others, Head of the Department Professor Dr. Swarnali Islam Khandaker, Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, faculty member and students were present. Later, Dr. Swarnali and Md. Abu Sufian handed over a crest to the speaker.

The Department of Pharmacy, UAP organized a 3-day Guest Speaker Seminar Series from August 9-11, 2016 at UAP City Campus. Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Acting Vice Chancellor inaugurated the seminar as Chief Guest and Professor Dr. Swarnali Islam Khandakar, Head, Department of Pharmacy gave welcome speech at the opening session.

 

  

Seminar on "Career Development in Pharmaceutical Marketing: Why and How" was held at the first day. Md. Khairul Alam, Senior Product Manager, Marketing, Nuvasta Pharma Limited, Nazmul Hasan Mahmud, Asst. Product Manager, Insulins, Sanofi Bangladesh Limited and Md. Moudood Choudhury, Deputy Manager, International Marketing, Opsonin Pharmaceutical were the discussants. They talked about the Strategies for Developing Effective Presentation Skills, Preparations for Career Development in Pharmaceutical Marketing and Career Prospects of International Marketing in Pharmaceutical industries.

Mr. Muin Uddin Mazumder, Director, Industrial Affairs, Sanofi Bangladesh Ltd. was the speaker for 2nd day seminar on "Manufacturing Excellence in Pharmaceutical Industries."

Seminar on "Good Manufacturing Practices and Contamination Control in Pharmaceutical Industries" was held at the final day seminar. Mohammed Ashraful Islam, DGM and Head, Quality Assurance Department, Incepta Pharmaceutical Ltd was the speaker. The seminar was attended by faculty members, students and staff.

Seminar on Gastric Acidity in Our Lifestyle

A seminar on Gastric Acidity in Our Lifestyle organized by UAP Pharmacy department in cooperation with ESKAYEF Bangladesh Limited was held in the departmental auditorium on July 15, 2014. Dr. Md. Murad Hossain, Manager, Medical Affairs of Eskayef Bangladesh Ltd and head of the Pharmacy department, UAP Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan addressed the seminar. High officials of Eskayef, faculties and students of the department attended the program among others. Dr. Murad advised to be careful and aware of junk food and quit smoking avoiding the adverse affect of Gastric Acidity. Dr. Bhuiyan marked the seminar as an opportunity for the student of Pharmacy to share the information of healthy lifestyle. He expressed the hope to have interactive relationship with the companies extending bilateral research with UAP Pharmacy department. 

 

Seminar on the Role of Pharmacist in Product Management Department

A seminar was held at the Department of Pharmacy, UAP on the responsibilities of new and young pharmacists in the Product Management Department of a pharmaceutical industry on 24th January, 2015.

Md. Solaiman Kabir who is an expert in marketing plan, teambuilding and manpower development spoke to the outgoing students at the Pharmacy Auditorium. Mr. Kabir provided a wonderful, attractive and interactive presentation to the students. He emphasized on the CV writing skills and how to face interview in his lecture. The students were very much interactive in the seminar. Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan and Mohammad Shahriar were also present at the seminar. Mr. Kabir is presently working as Marketing Consultant and Head of Marketing at Index Group of Companies. He also worked in different managerial positions of Marketing divisions of Orion Pharma Ltd. and Apex Pharma Ltd.

 

 

Seminar on "Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology for Next Generation Pharma Industry"

A seminar was held in the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) on 19th February, 2014. The keynote speaker was Dr. Sabiruddin Mirza who is currently working as a Senior Research Associate, in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences of Harvard University. He completed his PhD from the University of Helsinky. He presented a talk on "Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology for Next Generation Pharma Industry".

Dr. Mirza discussed the recent trends in the nanotechnology and how they can be used to improve product quality by the pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh. Dr. Mirza also explained to the students how to collaborate with foreign institution for research activity and also expressed his interest to work with the Department of Pharmacy, UAP. The talk was followed by an interactive question answer sessions where the speaker answered the queries of students. Vice Chancellor of UAP, Prof Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury was present as chief guest in the seminar and gave an inspirational speech to the students of the department and thanking note to the speaker. Pro Vice Chancellor of UAP, Prof Dr. M.R. Kabir, Registrar Dr. Abdul Mazid and Head of the Department of Pharmacy, Prof Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan were also present in the seminar. Participation of all the faculty members, distinguished guests and senior students of the department made the seminar interactive and successful.
