Students' Awards

  • Tamayouz International Award-2017, Iraq: Winner

Nishat Tasnim Oyshee, a graduate of the Department of Architecture, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) won the first prize of Tamayouz International Award–2017 for her graduation project (for excellence in Architecture, Urban and landscape Design Graduation Project Worldwide). A highly reputed international jury panel made thewinners’ selection and ranking in this competition where a total of 468 graduates from 118 universities and 42 countries participated with their final year thesis projects. As winner of this competition Nishat has won an MSc Scholarship for 2 Years at the University Polytechnic of Milan fully funded by the organizers Iraqi Business Council in Jordan. Nishat is the first Bangladeshi student to win this highly competitive Competition. Her entry titled “Through the silts: poem, prayers and promises for Chuknagar” was a development proposal plotting historic footprints of an unclaimed genocidal site on a master plan. Tamayouz International Award, is an International Excellence Award for Graduation Projects is open to architecture, urban design and planning and landscape design students around the world to submit their graduation projects.

 

  • Adittya Design Competition Award, India: WInner

 “Adittya Design Competition”, a competition was arranged by Adittya College of Design Studies in Mumbai, India. A group of students under the guidance of their studio instructor Srijon Barua participates and won the award.  The team members were, Atikul Islam, Rajib Kumar Saha, Antara Talukdar, Protiti Iqbal and Jahidul Islam.

 

  • ARCASIA Student Design Competition 2013, Nepal: Official Bangldesh Entry: Winner

Muhammad Abul Khayer Chisty, A student of 3rd year, won the prestigious competition for Official Country Entry representing Bangladesh in Arcasia Student Design Competition. The task of the competition was to design an Asian Youth Center, and Chisty's project title was 'connecting the dots'​. The project was exhibited in 17th ARCASIA Forum at Kathmandu, Nepal among other commended projects from all around Asia. 

 

  • A House for Pink Floyd idea competition, 2013: Among Best Ten

Muntasir Khalid Dipto along with his team was awarded the Tenth place in an widely known international idea design competition "A House for Pink Floyd" organized jointly by ICARCH (International Competitions in Architecture) and Atelierul de Proiectare (AdeP - Design Studio) Magazine. This widely celebrated competition for its nature of idea exploration attracted participations from all around the world open for both students and graduates of architecture. Mutasir's  project and another entry from India were the only  projects from Asia among the top ten awards.

  • IAB Student Fest 2018, Best Thesis Project: WInner and Commendation Awards

Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) organized a two-day long event "IAB Student Fest 2018" on 2nd and 3rd November at IAB center, Agargaon. It was participated by over 200 students from IAB accredited schools of architecture and 100 students from the non-accredited schools. Among many other events, in the competition for “Student’s Thesis Project” Nishat Tasnim won the First Prize and Atikul Islam recieved the Commendation Award.  

 

  • IAB Thematic Poster Design Competition, 2018: Winner and Third Prize

Institute of Architects Bangladesh organized a Thematic Poster Design Competition to commemorate the 95th birthday of Sthapatya Acharya Muzharul Islam in the December 25th 2018. Mahamudul Gani Kanak and Ahsan Habib of level-4 Term-2 won the first prize in the competition. They along with Maisha Mosharrat and Arman Chowdhury of the same batch also won the third prize.

 

  • "Smart Concept" Award.2017

To build the home-grown vision of people-centric smart cities for all with a theme of 'Smart City Smart People' – a ‘Smart City Week 2017', from 29 november to 05 December was organized by UNDP Bangladesh. Two projects from Level 4, Term 1 titled, “Post Infrastructural Urbanism” and  " শাহবাগ সাংস্কৃতিক বলয় "  was presented in the ceremony and awarded as the "Smart Concept".  

 

  • “Jute Design Contest”, by Alliance Française de Dhaka and Goethe-Institute Bangladesh: Two Winning Entry

“Jute Design Contest” was proposed by Alliance Française de Dhaka and Goethe-Institute Bangladesh. Fahim Hasin and Rakibuzzaman of UAP are among the 8 winning teams for two seperate entries. The competition was about innovative and experimental use of Jute as a material to create new products. After initial award declaration, there was sequential workshops and development sessions with the winning entries under the guidance of Bangladeshi, French and German experts and eventually the winning experimental projects were built in reality and exhibited during the opening of Franco-German Embassy in Dhaka. 

 

  • Graffiti Design Competition by Dhaka City Corporation North: Winner 

Graffiti Design Competition organized by Dhaka City Corporation North to be realized in several spots in Dhaka was won by M.G Tamzeed from the Dept. of Architecture, UAP

 

  • Student Idea Competition for the Tejgaon Old Airport Site - 'Creating an Urban Oasis' 2015: 2nd Prize​

Muhammad Abul Khayer Chisty from UAP and his team won the 2nd Prize in the Idea competition titled "Creating an Urban Oasis" organized by BUET Alumni Association, Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB), Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) and Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) jointly. The competitions was about design ideas regarding what can be done if the Tejgaon Old Airport Site becomes a public place and a park. Chisty's project was awarded among 263 entries from all around Bangladesh and was later exhibited in BUET. 

 

  • STHANIK - Student Design Competition for Urban Development of Gulshan Lake Area, 2014: Finalist

Organized by VITTI Sthapati Brindo Ltd, this competition was about ideas about how to create an urban space within the busy fabric of metropolis Dhaka. The proposal of Muhammad Abul Khayer Chisty from UAP was among the finalists in the competition and exhibited at Krishibid Institute Bangladesh (KIB), Firmgate, Dhaka.

 

  •  “DOT magazine” Awards: Winners

 “DOT" is a quarterly magazine of art & architecture in Bangladesh who arranges Student Design Award Competition regularly for better exposure of potentials of the students. DOT awards students projects in different categories from senior to junior level.  For different editions of DOT magazine, several of our students won award in different times. Some of the names are as follows:

  • Protivaban Design Charrette 2008: 1st Prize

Protivaban is an one day Charrette program organized by the Dept. of Architecture, BRAC University. In its 2008 session Fahinaz Ferdous of UAP won the 1st prize.
