Vision and Mission

Message from the Head of the Department

Welcome to the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities of University of Asia Pacific. We have come to the end of a millennium and stand at the brink of a new world, which will take shape in the 21st century. An obvious question is where we are as a department and where we want to go? Our goal is to give undergraduate students a high-quality education that includes hands-on experience. Our vision is to support students in achieving excellence in Engineering through quality education. We strive in nation-building activities with a special focus to serve the country as a potential knowledge hub for the dissemination of technological and scientific advancements. As can be seen, we genuinely care about the students and their future.

Over the past seventeen years, the University and the department have undergone many changes, leaving us well-positioned to deliver quality in teaching and research. Notwithstanding current budget limitations, the department is well placed to maintain a significant role in the University. Perhaps the most visible evidence of our vitality can be found in the laboratory facilities. We have included modern experiments in our Physics laboratory. Among these Plank’s constant verification using the photo-electric phenomenon is a prominent one. These changes reflect part of our continuing evolution.

We are committed to creating the most supportive and intellectually stimulating environment for the students. A very friendly and congenial atmosphere exists for fostering a friendly and healthy teacher-student relationship. As head of the department, I see our mission as providing the best education in the understanding of science and arts. Our sense of enthusiasm about what we do, as well as our dedication to lead the department to new heights, are as strong as they have ever been.

Whether you are a prospective student, a former student, a parent, or a curious member of the public, I invite you to visit our web pages and hope that you will have the opportunity to visit our department in our state-of-the-art facilities. If you don't find what you're looking for or if you'd like additional information, please contact me by mail, telephone, fax, or E-mail. I'll do my best to help you.

Prof. Dr. Md. Sultan Mahmud
