UAP organizes DBA Fest

  • May 02, 2019

 

Cultural Club of Department of Business Administration (DBA), University of Asia Pacific (UAP), organized 'DBA Fest-2019' at its main campus in city's Farmgate area on Thursday. The day-long program began with a photo exhibition in the morning followed by a cultural show with exceptional performances presented by the students of DBA. Pro-VC Prof Dr M R Kabir joined the occasion as the chief guest while Treasurer Air Commodore (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury and Registrar Sarwar R Chowdhury were present as special guests. 

Faculties, students and alumni took part in the fest which became a success thanks to Barnali Nandi Paul, Convener, Ahmed Tausif Saad, Deputy Convener of DBA Cultural Club and Prof Dr Md Tareque Aziz, head of the department. Faculties Jesmin Sultana, Md Obaidul H Choudhury, Imroz Mahmud, Sisili Rahman, Samira Sahel, Maeen Uddin, Md Rakiv and Md Jaber Al Islam, among others, were present. 

 

Female Enterpreneurs Fest

The Entrepreneurship and Career Development Club of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) hosted an exhibition titled "Passion to Action: Female Entrepreneurs' Fest" at UAP Plaza on Jan 21, 2019.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof  Dr MR Kabir inaugurated the daylong event as chief guest while DSW Director & UAP Treasurer Air Cdre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Business Administration Department Head Prof Dr Mohammed Tareque Aziz, Sisili Rahman, Shayla Binta Sayeed, Ahmed Tausif Saad, were present among others.
The exhibition hosted a group of female entrepreneurs named "Female Entrepreneurs of Bangladesh" who showcased their products and provided the students of UAP an opportunity to get to know the prospects and challenges of their startups. The exhibition included a wide range of products from spices, handmade soaps, crafts, to locally produced handloom sarees and dresses.

 

Winter Fest 2017 of DBA

School of Business Cultural Club (SBCC) of the Department of Business Administration, UAP organized a program called "winter Fest -17" on 22nd January, 2017 at the backyard of UAP city campus. There were eight stalls for serving the students with various winter collections such as pitha, payesh, various sweets and many other things.
 
There was also a show of bioscope and music. The program was initiated to develop the branding concept of business students as well as for recreation. Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury was present as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the program along with the presence of Treasurer of UAP, Air Commodore (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Registrar Mr. Sarwar R Chowdhury and Mr. Shamshad Ahmed, Head of the Department of Business Administration.
The program was finally concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Sadia Tangem, Assistant Professor and convener of the club.

Third season of Adblitz competition: "Crafting the Next Ad-Maestros"

Ingenious Marketing Club (IMC) of the Department of Business Administration, UAP organised third season of the ad making competition titled “Adblitz - Crafting the Next Ad-Maestros” at the auditorium of the campus on July 10, 2019. The event was sponsored by Ok Wallet by One Bank. The objective of the event was to unleash the creative potentials of the business students in the field of marketing and promotions. Acclaimed industry professionals namely Ehita Tahmina Nazir, Assistant Vice President, MFSD at ONE Bank Limited;  Anubhab Chakraborty, Group Manager, Social Communication at Asiatic Marketing Communications Limited; and Md. Raziuddin Sourav, First Assistant Vice President, Brand Marketing and Communications at LankaBangla Finance Limited were present.

The programme was chaired by the UAP VC, National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury.  Pro-VC UAP, Prof. Dr. MR. Kabir and Treasurer and Director of Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW), Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury (Retd.) graced the occasion with their presence. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by the convener of the club Tahmeem Siddiqi, Assistant Professor, DBA, UAP.

 

Competition: ‘Brand Beast: Test Your Marketing Acumen’

On July 31, 2018, a competition was held entitled as ‘Brand Beast: Test Your Marketing Acumen’. The participants were presented with a marketing case prepared by industry experts, and the participants were required to present them with interactive slides in front of a judge panel consisting of corporate personnel. Hence, this competition made an effective platform for the students to learn about various issues related with marketing, branding and salesmanship from practical implications.

 

Second season of Adblitz: Crafting the Next Ad-Maestros

The Ingenious Marketing Club continued with the second season of Adblitz: Crafting the Next Ad-Maestros, an advertisement making competition, to sharpen the skills of developing and delivering messages successfully and promoting a product. The competition was adjudicated by experts from the industry. The competition was preceded by a workshop conducted by a professional from the advertisement industry.

Ingenious Marketing Club (IMC) of the Department of Business Administration, UAP organized a competition titled "AD BLITZ-Crafting the Next Ad-Maestros" on May 17, 2017. The objective of the event was to unleash the creative potentials of the business students in the field of Marketing and Promotions.
 
Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer & Director, DSW was present as the Chief Guest. Acclaimed corporate personnels namely Rajib Shaha, Manager-Marketing and Branding-Kazi Food Industries Ltd, Md. Shafiul Hoque Shaon, Account Manager, Client Relation-Mediacom Bangladesh Ltd., Md. Ashraful Alam (Russell) Creative Supervisor -Mediacom Bangladesh Ltd. and Benozir Qamruddin Assistant Manager-Brand-Akij Corporation Ltd. were invited as moderators. Total 10 groups presented their TV commercials developed on their own innovative concepts out of whom 3 groups were finally selected as Champion, First Runner Up and Second Runner up. The highly competitive session created a vital platform for the students to link theoretical concepts with practice and strive to achieve excellence in their field.
The program was chaired by Head of the Department of Business Administration Mr. Shamshad Ahmed and finally concluded with vote of thanks by the convener of the club Ms. Tahmeem Siddiqi and advisors of the club Ms. Samira Sahel and Ms. Barnali Nandi, Lecturer DBA, UAP.

 

"BIZQUIZ-16" 

  • 23rd and 24th November, 2016

 

 

"Bizquiz-16" organized by Business Administration Communication Club (BACC), Department of Business Administration (DBA) of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was held in the department on 23rd and 24th November, 2016.
 
There were two rounds for the participants. In the first round 120 students participated in the quiz contest. In the final round there were four teams and from them one team became first and another team took the runner-up place. Mr. Shamshad Ahmed, Head of the department was present as a chief guest and awarded the winners of the competition with crests and certificates. Faculty members and students were present in the prize giving ceremony.

 

UAP DBA student secures 2nd runner up position in HR Hulk

  • October 31, 2015


Shadman Shoumik Anik, a student of Department of Business Administration (DBA), secured 2nd runner up position in the inter-university HR competency competition titled 'HR Hulk' hosted by United International University on October 31, 2015.
  
A total of 48 teams, each comprising 3 member, from leading public and private universities, such as, Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University (IBA and faculty of Business Studies), North South University, East West University, Independent University of Bangladesh, BRAC University, United International University, among others, took part in this competition. Four teams represented DBA in this HR contest.
The contest was divided into four rounds: after the 'buzzer' round, two of the four teams from DBA qualified for the second; subsequently, the teams were split into two, each consisting of 6 contestants. In this phase, they were asked to solve a case; this was a grueling session where a particular contestant had to display his ability to influence and convince others to advance his own arguments. And, in the final round, each of the four successful candidates was required to make a presentation on the case findings. Renowned HR professionals from different corporate houses were present as judges in this competition covered by 'The Daily Star' and 'Prothom Alo' with 'ABC Radio' and 'BSHRM' being the associate partners. Shadman Shoumik Anik, a BBA student of the 7th semester, UAP stood out, securing the 2nd runner up position in this HR contest. He also received a cheque of Tk. 10,000 as prize money with a certificate and a crest for his outstanding performance.

Workshop: "Ad Making and Story Board Writing"

  • July 03, 2019

 

Prior to the competition “Adblitz - Crafting the Next Ad-Maestros”, Anubhab Chakraborty conducted a workshop titled “Ad Making and Story Board Writing” on July 3, 2019 and provided the participants a client brief based on which total 11 groups presented their TV commercials in the competition. Three groups were finally crowned as winner and joint runner-up.

 

Workshop on ‘Microsoft Excel’

  • 18 & 19 July, 2017

 

Club of Finance and Accounting (CFA) of Department of Business Administration organized a workshop on Microsoft Excel. The workshop entitled ‘Mastering MS Excel Skills’ as was conducted by Mr. Khairul Bashar, CFA, Research Analyst, City Brokerage Ltd, in two sessions which were consecutively orchestrated on the 18th and 19th of July this year. The workshop was designed to impart familiarity of calculation tools like basic logical functions (MS Excel interface, if, and , or, sum if, count if, look up, hyperlinking, freezing, unfreezing, formula, pivot table , consolidation, removing duplicates, subtotal, filtering, regression, keyboard shortcuts and some other relevant functions).

At the end of the 2nd session, an examination was taken after which the top three scorers were awarded with a crest and a certificate while others were given a certificate for participation.

On August 7, an official certificate and crest giving ceremony was held in this regard. Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Chowdhury handed of over the crests. The workshop was arranged by Ms. Sisili Rahman, convener of the club.

 

Workshop on "Crafting the Next Ad-Maestros"

Ingenious Marketing Club (IMC) of the Department of Business Administration, UAP organized a workshop on Advertisement making and Creative Concept Development titled "Crafting the Next Ad-Maestros" on Thursday May 4. The workshop was conducted by Creative supervisor of Mediacom Bangladesh Limited, Md Asraful Islam Russell; a highly acclaimed industry personality in the world of advertising. He conducted the session for two hours covering the technicalities of making an AD, thinking out of the box and presenting it in the most creative manner. The highly interactive session created a vital platform for the students to link theoritical concepts with practice.

The program was chaired by Head of the Department of Business Administration Mr. Shamshad Ahmed and finally concluded with vote of thanks by the convener of the club, Ms. Tahmeem Siddiqi, Lecturer, DBA, UAP.

 

Workshop on Public Speaking

Business Administration Communication Club (BACC) of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) on January 08, 2017, organized a workshop titled "Basics of Public Speaking" which covered the main aspects of public speaking. Eminent public figure Naveed Mahbub conducted the interactive session.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir; Head of the Department of Business Administration Mr. Shamshad Ahmed; and Head of the Department of English Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury among others attended the workshop. Faculties and students took part in the seminar that concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs. Sadia Tangem, Convener of the club.

 

Workshop & Exhibition of 'Photography and Art Work

  • 15th -16th November, 2016

 

A 'Workshop & Exhibition of Photography and Art Work' organized by Photocast Photography Club', Department of Business Administration (DBA) of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was held in the department from 15th -16th November, 2016. The Photocast Photography Club of DBA, UAP aims to create international photographers by organizing workshops & exhibitions which will help students develop photography and editing skills.

The exhibition was graced and inaugurated by Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, UAP as Chief Guest and Treasurer, UAP Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury as Special guest and presided over by Mr. Shamsad Ahmed, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Business Administration while Mr. Latif Hossain, CEO and Graphic Designer of Aura Communications attended the workshop as resource person.

Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury expressed his thought about photography and young photographers in Bangladesh. In the workshop, Mr. Latif Hossain discussed the photography from general perspectives for all participants and provided training on various photography editing software, such as Light Room and Photoshop CC.

On Prize giving ceremony, Prof. Dr. Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed, Dean, Department of Architecture, UAP & President, Institute of Architects Bangladesh distributed certificates among the participants. UAP faculties and students attended the exhibition along with the workshop.

 

Workshop on Personal Development Awareness Session at UAP DBA Department

The Business Administration Communication Club (BACC) and Career Development Club (CDC) in collaboration with Workplace Skill Development Academy (WSDA), New Zealand organized a 3 hour long workshop titled "Personal Development Awareness Session" was held at seminar room of the Department on 14 June, 2015.
 
Around 45 students of different Departments of UAP took part in the workshop. Prof. Shahriyar Anam, Head of Department of Business Administration inaugurated the program. Mr. Ahmed Wasimul Bari, VP and Dean of WSDA and Ms. Rose McNaught were the Guest speakers.
 
The workshop was conducted in three sessions: How to Learn Fast, Cycle of Success, and How to Control Your Life for Success. From the workshop, students gained knowledge to improve their interpersonal skills and appreciated the worth of their valuable time.

 

Training on "Creating a High Performance Work Culture: Looking beyond Talent Management"

A training on "Creating a High Performance Work Culture: Looking beyond Talent Management" was held at the seminar room of the Department of Business Administration (DBA) of University of Aisa Pacific (UAP) on Friday, 22 May 2015. In association with UAP, Bangladesh Society for Human Resources Management (BSHRM) organized the training program as part of their regular activities. On behalf of the training & learning team, the session was conducted by Mr. Asif Zaman, Ex-General Secretary & Fellow of BSHRM and Executive Vice President & Head of HR, The Premier Bank Limited. Among others, Sarwar R Chowdhury, Registrar-in-charge of UAP, Professor Shahriyar Anam, Head of DBA, Professor Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, Coordinator, MBA & EMBA of DBA and Md. Musharrof Hossain, President of BSHRM addressed the program. A total of 87 participants including 10 faculty members and students of UAP were given certificates at the end of the program while non-academic participants included HR Professionals from local and international organizations attended the training program. Some of the participants were the Heads of HR Departments of respective Organizations.

Ingenious Marketing Club (IMC) of the Department of Business Administration, organized a seminar titled ‘Effective Marketing Communication and Branding” on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 12:00 pm-02:00pm. The objective of the seminar was to provide the participants with an understanding of the concepts of marketing communications and branding activities at a practical level. The focus was primarily on enhancing the skills and knowledge needed to co-ordinate communication activities and manage campaigns. Seminar titled "E-Commerce the Next Game Changer"

Ingenious Marketing Club (IMC) of the Department of Business Administration, UAP organized a seminar titled "E-commerce: the next game changer" on Thursday January 19. A well-known digital entrepreneur, CEO and co-founder of Zero Gravity Ventures, the founder of nation's first business to business online marketplace sindabad.com and one of the leading business to customer site kiksha.com, Zeeshan Kingshuk Huq conducted the two hour long session and covered the major aspects of doing business with the help of internet and technology. Although initiated by DBA, the session encouraged inter-department students so that they get a good grasp of globally emerging business sectors, e-commerce and make an accurate evaluation of its penetration in Bangladesh irrespective of their disciplines.
 
Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir; Treasurer of UAP, Air Commodore Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury; Head of the Department of Business Administration Mr. Shamshad Ahmed among others were present during the highly engaging session. Seminar on "Role of Branding in Banking Industry" at DBA

A Seminar on "Role of Branding in Banking Industry" organized by the Department of Business Administration was held at DBA premise on 18 August 2015. Javed Iqbal, Senior Vice President, Head, Brand Marketing and Corporate Affairs, United Commercial Bank Limited (UCBL) and Executive Officer Saiful Islam Khan were invited Guest speakers.
 
The seminar was chaired by Professor Shahriyar Anam, Head of the Department of Business Administration. Ms. Afia Muqtadir and Ms. Leena M. Chowdhury took the initiative to organize the program involving students of 8th semester (Marketing Major). The topic "Branding" is immensely important and crucial for long-term survival for any organization. The speakers eloquently conveyed this message and added that Branding in the banking sector is not practiced to the extent it should be in Bangladesh. UCBL strives to establish it as a brand through differentiation, exclusive promotions, and unitedly believing in, living in and reaching a common goal leading towards branding the bank.
 
The chairperson expressed that knowing practical application of branding in the banking industry can be beneficial for the students and faculty members as well. It was clearly understood by all that Branding is not just the name, or sign, or logo, or patent rights etc. but it certainly is a lot more. Branding is a package of tangible and intangible items concentrating on the perception customers carry in their thought process. DBA faculties and students attended the program.

 

Seminar on Translating Quality Educational Contents of Khan Academy at UAP

A seminar on "Translating Quality Educational Contents of Khan Academy" was held at University of Asia Pacific (UAP) city campus of Green Road on 10 August 2015. This program was a joint initiative of Department of Business Administration (DBA) of UAP, Grameenphone, Agami Education Foundation (Khan Academy nominated local partner) and renowned event management firm Sky Tracker Limited. The purpose of the initiative was to train interested students on how to participate, how to register with Khan Academy, how to work in a web based environment and translate educational contents of Khan Academy to make quality education materials easily available for the students of Bangladesh.

The program was inaugurated by honorable Head of the Department Professor Shahriyar Anam and coordinated by Associate Professor Shamsad Ahmed. Symposium on 'Entrepreneurship in Globalizing Economy'

In this era of globalization, entrepreneurs have a major role to play in shaping the economy of a country, particularly where demographic changes in the composition of its labor force are so conspicuous, and the demands of the consumers are so continually shifting. For business graduates, this assumes a special significance as they need to develop the much needed entrepreneurial skills to cope with the evolving market conditions. With this view in mind, Career Development Club (CDC) at Department of Business Administration (DBA), organized a symposium on 'Entrepreneurship in Globalizing Economy' at the seminar room of the department on June 22, 2015.

Mr. Md. Tajul Islam, Member of Parliament, and Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Power, Energy, Mineral and Planning Resources and Director of Jamuna Bank Ltd. attended the program as the chief guest. Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Pro Vice-Chancellor, UAP chaired the symposium while the special guest, Mr. Jerry Nicholson, Director of Tinder Capital, moderated the program. Prof. Shahriyar Anam, Head, DBA, gave the welcome speech on the occasion. In his speech, Mr. Tajul Islam asked the students not to worry about the money needed to start a business; rather they should nurture and develop entrepreneurial talents in themselves to face future challenges. He shared his own humble beginnings as an entrepreneur where he started his business with only taka 500 in his pocket, and has now become successful in his ventures.

Mr. Jerry Nicholson encouraged the students to dream higher, to craft innovative business ideas, and advised them to proceed boldly with their dreams. He also mentioned how the government might help them in this regard and shared his experiences in his 10-year stay in Bangladesh. In his speech, Prof. Kabir expressed his ideas about the role of young entrepreneurs in this global economy. He also echoed the ideas of the Noble Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus that the graduates must not render themselves into job-seekers; rather they should be job-givers. Prof. Anam, in his welcome speech, touched upon the lives of the chief and the special guests of the occasion, and thanked the CDC for arranging such a symposium that would surely help to kindle the entrepreneurial spirit in the minds of the budding entrepreneurs of the department.

Seminar on International Trade & Business at UAP

The Department of Business Administration (DBA) arranged a seminar on "International Trade & Business" at the seminar room of the Department on 1st June 2015 under the supervision of Mr. Md. Ishtiak Uddin, Assistant Professor, DBA. The objective of this seminar was to enhance the practical learning on a variety of issues affecting international trade and business. The Presenter of the seminar was Mr. Md. Moshiul Alam, Sourcing Specialist-GSC, GE Global Operations. After the presentation, Mr. Alam had an interactive Q & A session with the students.

 

Seminar on The impact of political economic and financial risk on stock market performance

The Department of Business Administration arranged a seminar on "The impact of political economic and financial risk on stock market performance" at the seminar room of the Department on 31st of May 2015 under the supervision of Mr. Mahmud Rahman, Assistant Prof. and Ms. Nazreen Tabassum Chowdhury, Lecturer DBA. The primary objective of this seminar was to expose our students to the practical world of capital market and its role in building national economy. Such exposure would help students gain more insight into the different aspects of country's stock market and to consider capital market as a potential source of investment. The Presenter of the seminar was Mr. Saiful Islam, Consultant of an investment firm and Former Head of Investment Research Division, IDLC. After the presentation, Mr. Saiful Islam had an interactive Q & A session with the students.

 

Seminar on “CV writing & Facing Interview”

The Business Administration Communication Club ( BACC ) of the Department of Business Administration organized a seminar on “CV writing & Facing Interview” on 8th March, 2014.The Chair of the Program was Shahriyar Anam,Professor and Head of DBA,UAP. The special guest of honor and keynote speaker for the program was Sultan Mahmud Ripon, Assistant Vice President &Senior Manager, HRM,The City Bank ltd. The seminar was a joint initiative by Ms.SadiaTangem,Lecturer ,DBA,UAP and the Convener of BACC and Ishtiak Uddin,Lecturer,DBA,UAP. CV is the first step in getting a face to face interview with a potential employer. A well written CV will make a difference and leave an impression on the employer. An Interview is considered as an important element in the job search process. Students mostly commit some common mistakes while writing a CV and when facing Interview. To make the students aware of the mistakes Sultan Mahmud Ripon delivered a splendid speech. He not only pinpointed the basic errors but also gave a detailed explanation of the essentials required in a CV and the etiquettes and techniques required for facing an interview. Followed by his speech there was Question and Answer Session. Sultan Mahmud Ripon answered each queries and the students were delighted with his answers. The program was concluded with a thanks giving speech by Shahriyar Anam.

ACBSP delegates visit UAP's Department of Business Administration

On 12th March’ 2019 Dr. Rajesh Khajuria, Commissioner ACBSP, Associate Professor Dr. Christopher Speicher from Marywood University, USA and Professor Dr. Abul HMG Azam, Dean, School of Business & Economics (UIU) visited UAP’s Department of Business Administration (DBA).
 
UAP’s honorable Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. KM R Kabir and Professor Dr. Md. Tareque Aziz, Head DBA, welcomed the delegates to UAP. During their visit, they had a meeting, in which they exchanged ideas on the process and potentials of having ACBSP accreditation for DBA and building partnership with Marywood University within the domain of faculty and student exchange programs. During this meeting the Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Kabir handed over a few mementos to the distinguished delegates. The ACBSP delegates experienced a fruitful and wonderful visit to UAP and showed their willingness to visit again in the near future.

 

Campus Activation Program by DARAZ Bangladesh @DBA, UAP

A three-day Campus Activation Program by DARAZ Bangladesh, the leading online sales company, for the students of DBA was organized by the Business Administration Communication Club (BACC), DBA. For this purpose, a six-member delegation from the company, which is part of Rocket Internet, a leading MNC specialized in e-commerce, visited the DBA campus on November 10-12, 2015.

The event, first of its kind at UAP, attracted hundreds of DBA students eager to explore the feel and experience the rigors of working in a corporate environment, while continuing their academic pursuit. During this program, the company highlighted their activities and products, and offered training to the enthusiastic students in the area of sales and promotions. Starting at 9 a.m., the program continued until 5 p.m. each day. It is to be mentioned that a total of one hundred and eight (108) students got recruited for the position of sales executives in the company. Ms. Sadia Tangem, Assistant Professor, and the convener of BACC, DBA supervised the students and monitored the entire program, which was, indeed, a grand success.
 

Grameen Phone Ltd. Campus Recruitment Program @DBA, UAP

A two-day Campus Recruitment Program for the students of different departments of UAP was organized by the Business Administration Communication Club (BACC), DBA. A 10-member delegation from Grameen Phone Ltd., the much coveted corporate destination of the job seekers, graced the occasion held on November 1 and 2, 2015. The event, first of its kind at UAP, attracted hundreds of students from its various departments to display their employability skills before the experienced managers and the executives of the renowned company.
In his welcome speech, Professor Shahriyar Anam, Head, DBA, spoke of the UAP's constant endeavor in forging a strong linkage between the industry and the university so that students can derive experiential learning beyond the theoretical aspects of classroom teaching. Such an event, hoped Prof. Anam, would go a long way in bridging the gap between the two, and in opening a world of opportunity for the students to get accustomed with the vibes and the norms of corporate culture. He appreciated the GP team for having taken their time to come over to DBA campus for this purpose, and praised the BACC club for organizing such an event for the benefit of the UAP students. On his part, Mr. Monjurul Karim, Service Manager, Inbound contact Center, talked about the brand image of Grameen Phone Ltd., and the value the graduates attach to work in this reputed organization. He also appreciated the efforts of the organizers for having arranged such a program and the hospitality extended to them from the DBA, UAP.


It is to be mentioned that a total of forty students got recruited for the position of customer care managers with the entry level salary being Tk. Fifteen thousand plus some fringe benefits. Starting at 11 a.m., the recruitment process continued until 4 p.m. each day. At the end of the two-day program, the delegation had a cordial discussion with the DBA faculty members, and expressed their desire to regularly arrange such events in the times ahead. Ms. Sadia Tangem, Assistant Professor, and the convener of BACC, DBA was instrumental, first, in securing the contacts of GP authority and then monitored the entire program till the very end.

Industrial tour at Conforce Limited

An industrial tour was arranged at Conforce Limited on January 26, 2019 where a total of 70 students of Batch 37, 38, & 41 of DBA, UAP as a part of their academic activities. Conforce Limited is one of the leading manufacturers of deshi bricks, machine made bricks and refractory products in Bangladesh. The plant visit gave the students an opportunity of acquiring knowledge about various aspects in the area of operations and marketing of refractory products and bricks.

 

UAP DBA Dept. organizes a Study Tour at JMI Industrial Park, Munsiganj

Film Festival at Department of Business Administration

The students of the 44th batch of Department of Business Administration (DBA) of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized a film festival on 30 April 2019. It has been a tradition of DBA to arrange a film festival for the freshers. In this festival, two short films were shown those were prepared by Jawad Mahmud Jami, a student of the same batch which were highly praised by all. In addition to these short films, three movies were shown also. Among these three movies, one was Bengali movie (Fagun Haway), another was English movie (Robinhood), and the last one was an animated movie (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) that was enjoyed by all of the guests, faculties, and students.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir was present as the chief guest on the festival to encourage students to make more involvement in co-curricular events along with their academic activities. Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Tareque Aziz was present as the special guest at the festival. Convener of DBA Cultural Club Barnali Nandi and Deputy Convener of DBA Cultural Club Ahmed Tausif Saad were also present on the program. DBA’s faculty members Samira Sahel, Rubaba Nazneen Noor, Maeen Uddin were also present to enjoy the films and motivate the students for their initiatives.

 

Cultural program 'Abar Icche Ghuri'

School of Business Cultural Club (SBCC) of Department of Business Administration (DBA), University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized a cultural program entitled 'Abar Icche Ghuri' on Tuesday (May 23). Different cultural activities were chalked up by the club, which became a success with the help of the students participating in it. There were song performances, poetry recitation, drama and dance shows. There were an active participation of both the students and faculty members. The program was concluded with vote of thanks by the convener Ms. Sadia Tangem, Assistant professor, DBA.

 

Film Festival at DBA

The students of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) organized a film festival at department premises on May 14, 2017. Mr. Shamsad Ahmed, Head, DBA inaugurated the festival, coordinated by Ms. Sadia Tangem, Assistant Professor of the department. Faculty members were present in the inaugural ceremony. Students and the teachers relished the event with great pleasure. Students felt that to welcome the newcomers of spring 2017 semester they had to arrange some lighter moments and hence the event was organized. The films were chosen through great deliberation and three films included Beauty and the Beast, Fast and Furious 8 and Bomkesh Parbo. Students from all semesters were present during the show and occasional bursts of laughter were heard throughout the room.

 

UAP DBA Organizes Film Festival

The Department of Business Administration (DBA) of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized a day-long film festival on 28 October 2015. The festival was held at the Seminar Room of the Department.
In the festival, 4 films were screened which included Stop Genocide, 50 First Dates, Despicable Me and Jurassic Park. Students of 37th batch organized the festival to welcome the fresher's of Fall 2015. Faculties, students and new students enjoyed the film festival.

 

DBA students and Faculty members visited the victims of Rana Plaza Collapse at Savar

All the members of DBA of UAP are deeply shocked at the catastrophic consequences of human tragedy wrought by the building collapse of a garment factory at Savar, Dhaka. On behalf of DBA, two faculty members, Mr. Shamsad Ahmed, Associate Professor, and Mr. Mahmud Rahman, Lecturer, DBA with some students went to Savar on 30th april, 2013 to have a first-hand account of the devastation and offer some help to the severely afflicted people. While this help is meager compared to the unmitigated disaster, we hope these would help them to some extent to cope with their new life. We most sincerely pray for them & and hope the authorities would urgently take appropriate measures to avert such catastrophes in future.
