Study tour to the Liberation War Museum

  • 25 January 2020

 

In association with the History and Heritage Club, the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities organized a study tour to the Liberation War Museum for the students of the 1st semester on 25 January 2020. Mr. A. S. M. Mohsin, Assistant Professor, History, and advisor of the club was present with the students. Around 60 students from different departments participated in the program.

 

After visiting all galleries, they also took part in a quiz text based on the information in their mind. Bushra Jahan Tanu (Reg. 19201048), a student from the Department of CSE successfully scored full marks and achieved the 1st prize. Four other students from different departments also awarded for their good performance. This study tour was important for them to increase their knowledge about political development which led to the emergence of Bangladesh.

 

 

A“Discussion on the Liberation War of Bangladesh” to mark the 49th Victory Day

On 17 December 2019, the Directorate of Students’ Welfare, in association with the History & Heritage Club and Cultural Club of UAP, organized a discussion marking the 49th Victory Day of Bangladesh. Major General (Retd.) Jamilur Din Ahsan, Bir Pratik, and Former Ambassador of Government of Bangladesh Freedom Fighter Mr. M. Humayun Kabir, and shared their memories of the liberation war of Bangladesh. They also encouraged the students to acquire knowledge to establish the true meaning of independence, build a knowledge-based society, and make a better Bangladesh. 
National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, UAP presided over the program while Hon’ble Chairperson of Board of Trustees Mr. Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury, Members of the Board of Trustees Mr. Qayum Reza Chowdhury and Engr. M. Abu Taher, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UAP Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir and Ms. Selina Nowroze Choudhury, wife of National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury were present. 

Among others, the program was also attended by Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Director, DSW; Registrar, Heads of Departments, directors, faculty members, officials of UAP. About 200 students attended the program with full enthusiasm.

 

 

A day-long Study Tour to Panam City and Sonargaon

History & Heritage Club, UAP organized a day-long Study Tour to Panam City and Sonargaon, Narayanganj in association with the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities on 19 July 2019. Panam City, situated in Sonargaon, Narayanganj is an ancient historical city of Bangladesh. There are many historical buildings that were built centuries ago and are related to the history of Baro-Bhuyan.

Students also visited the Folk Art Museum which was established in Sonargaon in 1975 by Shilpacharya Joynul Abedin. The museum exhibits wooden crafts, brass, bamboo, and metal crafts, painted work, musical instruments, pottery, textiles, ornaments, and much more.

A total of 60 students from different departments participated in the study tour. They learned about the society of medieval Bengal, especially in the Mughal period. Mr. A. S. M. Mohsin, Assistant Professor of History and adviser of History and Heritage Club, UAP coordinated the tour. The tour was also attended by some of the faculty members of the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities including Assistant Professor Layeqa Bashir.

 

 

A Study Tour to the National Museum

In association with the History and Heritage Club of UAP, the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities organized a study tour as a part of the academic program to the National Museum of Bangladesh for the students of the 1st semester on 26 January 2019. Mr. A. S. M. Mohsin, Assistant Professor (History), Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities and adviser of the above-mentioned club was present with the students. This tour was important for them to increase their knowledge about the cultural and political development of the Bengali Nation which led to the emergence of Bangladesh in 1971. Students took this tour seriously and enjoyed it a lot.

 

A day-long exhibition and a Special Lecture titled Bangladesh: From Language Movement to Independence

UAP History and Heritage Club under the direction of Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW), organized a day-long photo exhibition in memory of the Language Martyrs, jointly with Shaheed Barkat Museum, Dhaka University on 1st August 2018 at UAP Plaza. The Club also organized a special lecture on the same day titled “বাংলাদেশ: ভাষা আন্দোলন থেকে স্বাধীনতা,” (Bangladesh: From Language Movement to Independence).

Dr. Abu Md. Delwar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Professor, Department of History, University of Dhaka was the keynote speaker. He described the incidents which led to the independence of Bangladesh in 1971 from 1952. He showed photos related to the political and cultural development of the Bengali nation during the Pakistan period.

 

Air Cdre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury (Retd.), Director, DSW, ended the program with a vote of thanks. Among others, Dr. Sanjit Kumar Paul, Head & Professor in Mathematics, Ms. Layeqa Bashir, Assistant Professor, Sociology, Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities, and Md. Tarek Khan, Assistant Director, DSW were present.

Mr. A. S. M. Mohisn, Assistant Professor, History and advisor, History and Heritage Club coordinated the program.
