"Borne Gondhe Chonde Geetite", Online Cultural Event

Due to the Covid pandemic, UAP conducted the whole Spring 2020 session online, and to synchronize with that UAP Cultural Club also hosted a cultural evening on September 28, 2020, at 7 pm. The session was live online and publicly open for all. Several songs, poetry recitations, and a couple of dance routines were presented in the session. In closing Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Director, DSW, said few encouraging words to the students while Ms. Layeqa Bashir, Assistant Professor, BS&H, and Adviser of UAP Cultural Club thanked everyone involved with the program.

 

UAP Cultural Club participated in the Inter-University Cultural Competition 2019 at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST)

On 21st September 2019, a team of 20 students of UAP Cultural Club took part in the Inter-University Cultural Competition 2019 organized and hosted by the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST). Before performing in the main competition, the team had to go through a primary selection process where among many leading universities of the country, the UAP team was selected along with 16 other teams from universities including the University of Dhaka, Jahangirnagar, etc. The UAP team staged a performance of “Chittrangada”, a musical drama that depicted a protest against gender violence in our society. The team’s performance was widely appreciated by the judges and audience.

UAP celebrates Pohela Boishakh 1426

UAP celebrated Pohela Boishakh 1426 on 14th April 2019 organized by UAP Cultural Club. The day-long program was started with ‘Mangal Shobhajatra’ in the morning led by the Director, DSW Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury. This colorful rally was followed by a cultural show where the students performed songs, dances, recitation, and a short drama. A ‘Boishakhi Mela’, was also arranged at East Plaza where the students displayed and sold a variety of Bengali traditional products.

 

 

The cultural show and the Boishakhi Mela were jointly inaugurated by the Chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT) of UAP Mr. Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury and the Vice-Chancellor of UAP National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury. Another cultural show, mainly based on folk songs, also took place in the afternoon. The campus was colorfully decorated by the students of UAP where traditional Bangladesh was brilliantly depicted. They also painted ‘Alpana’ in front of the university.

 

Among others, Mr. Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Member, BOT; Prof. Dr. M.R. Kabir, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; heads of different departments, faculty members, officials, and hundreds of enthusiastic students were present in the mela. Ms. Layeqa Bashir, Assistant Professor, BS&H and Adviser, UAP Cultural Club, and Mr. Md. Abdur Rahim, Assistant Professor, L&HR, UAP coordinated the whole program. The program was supported by the Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW), UAP, and sponsored by Structural Engineers Ltd. (SEL) and Seven Rings Cement.

  • UAP Cultural Club participated in the “Hajaro Konthe Deshgaan” to mark the Victory Day 2018

 

Chhayanaut Sangeet Bidyayatan, in association with the University of Dhaka, organized a cultural program titled, Hajaro Konthe Deshgaan to celebrate 47 years of Victory Day of Bangladesh at the Central Playground, of the University of Dhaka. In the grand event, members of the UAP Cultural Club along with thousands of others joined in a huge chorus of musical celebration.

 

The program began with the national flag being hoisted. This was followed by patriotic songs sung by renowned artists of Bangladesh where our students gave their voice. The musical performances were accompanied by beautifully choreographed group dances. Ms. Layeqa Bashir, Assistant Professor, Basic Sciences and Humanities and Adviser, UAP Cultural Club; and Ms. Shaila Rahman, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Member, UAP Cultural Club represented UAP in the program.

 

UAP Cultural Competition 2018

The UAP Cultural Club organized an intra-university cultural competition. The primary selection of the event took place on the 10th of November 2018. The final round of the event took place at UAP Auditorium on 9th December 2018.

 

 

There were 8 categories in the competition, e.g., Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, Folk Song, Modern Song, Dance, Recitation, Instrumental Music, and Program Anchoring. Two winners from each field were selected by the judges. Honorable Vice-Chancellor of UAP National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury was present as the Chief Guest, honorable Chairman of Board of Trustees Mr. Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury was the Special Guest. Mr. Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Member, Board of Trustees, UAP was present as one of the judges of the competition. Al-Haj Abdul Malek Mollah, Member, Board of Trustees, UAP, also present with his spouse. Among others, the program was attended by Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Director, DSW, UAP. The program concluded by giving prizes to the champions and runners-up of the competition.

 

UAP Cultural Club participated in the Star Melodies at The Daily Star

UAP Cultural Club participated in the Star Melodies “Kotha O Shurer Omor Juti”- the harmonious combination of classic lyrics and tunes on 27 November 2018 at The Daily Star Office. Ms. Sadya Afreen Mallick, Chief, Culture Initiatives, The Daily Star, hosted the program, while Mr. Mahfuz Anam, Editor, and Publisher, The Daily Star greeted the houseful audience with a welcome speech.

 

Ms. Layeqa Bashir, Assistant Professor, Basic Sciences and Humanities and Adviser, UAP Cultural Club, led a 3-member team from the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). They started the musical event with a number of old songs that had now become classic. Veteran artists Rafiqul Alam and Iffat Ara Nargis mesmerized the audience with their numbers. Renowned lyricist KG Mostofa graced the stage to say a few words about his journey as a young poet to becoming one of the most prominent lyricists of Bangla music. Other artists who performed at the program include Haimanti Rakshit, Samarjit Roy, and more. The program was attended by Mr. Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Member, Board of Trustees, UAP; Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer and Director, Directorate of Students’ Welfare; Mr. Sarwar Razzaq Chowdhury, Registrar, and a good number of faculty members and students of the university.

 

UAP Drama Club and Cultural Club jointly organized a beautiful “Stage Drama and Cultural Evening”

UAP Drama Club and Cultural Club jointly organized a “Stage Drama and Cultural Evening” on 22 July 2018 at its State-of-the-art auditorium. National Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Mohammed Alauddin, Senior Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees, UAP were present as the Chief Guest and Special Guest respectively.

 

The cultural program was organized by the UAP Cultural Club who performed chorus, traditional dance, and some solo. In the end, a certificate of appreciation was handed over by the Vice-Chancellor of UAP Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury to the winners of the Inter-Department Cultural Competition, 2017. A primary selection had taken place on the 4th of November 2017. A total of 84 students from different departments participated in seven categories, i.e. Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, Folk Music, Other Songs, Instrumental Music, Dance, and Recitation. Five students from each category were selected by the judges. Other than students, the program was also attended by Mr. Qayum Reza Chowdhury, Treasurer, BoT; Mr. Abdul Mohin Chowdhury, Member, BoT; Prof. Dr. M R Kabir, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Air Cdre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, and Director, DSW; Head and faculty members of different departments, and UAP officials.

 

UAP celebrates Pohela Boishakh- 1425

Cultural Club of UAP organized a day-long attractive program to celebrate Pohela Boishakh 1425 on Saturday, the First Day of Boishakh, 1425. The program started in the morning with a cultural function where students, teachers, and honorable guests took part.

 

The second session of the program was presented by the students in the afternoon at the Plaza. A Boishakhi Mela was also arranged by the students in the Back Yard Plaza. Different traditional Bangla foods and drinks were served in the Mela. The university premises were decorated with colorful painting, installation, and banner by the students which reflected the tradition of Bangladesh. Spontaneous participation and hard work of students from all departments in arranging the event gave it a unique color and helped it make a success.

Dr. M. Alauddin, Senior Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees, UAP was present as the Chief Guest. Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Mr. Qayum Reza Chowdhury, Treasurer of the BoT, Mr. Anhar A. Chowdhury, Member, Dr. Mohammad Shariful Islam, Member, Dr. Fatema Alauddin, Member, Board of Trustees, UAP and Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Director of DSW were also present. Thousands of students of UAP celebrated the day together at UAP.

 

UAP Cultural Competition 2017-18

The UAP Cultural Club, for the first time, organized an intra-university cultural competition. The primary selection of this Cultural Competition 2017 though started during the end of the year 2017, the final round of the event took place at UAP Plaza on 14th January 2018.

 

There were seven categories in the competition, i.e., Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, Folk Song, Modern Song, Dance, Recitation, and Instrumental Music. Two winners from each field were selected by the Juries. Honorable Vice-Chancellor of UAP Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, and Senior Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees Mr. Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury was present in the program. Director of DSW Air Cadre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury concluded the program by giving prizes to the champions and runners-up of the competition.

 

“Pitha Utshob” 

  • 4 January 2018

Directorate of Students’ Welfare, University of Asia Pacific organized a “Pitha Utshob” on 14 January 2018, to celebrate the winter with home-made pithas at its plaza.

 

The program was also attended by, Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Air Cdre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury (Retd.), Director, Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW), Registrar Sarwar R. Chowdhury, and faculty members. Students from all departments enjoyed the occasion with delight and enthusiasm. Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice-Chancellor and Mr. Qayum Reza Choudhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, UAP were present in the ceremony as the Chief Guest and Special Guest respectively. Students from several departments brought a variety of beautiful and delicious ‘traditional pithas’.

 

UAP students perform at BUP Cultural Fest 2017

A group of 20 students of UAP participated in the Inter-University Cultural Fest-2017 organized by Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) on September 22, 2017.

The team decorated their program with the combination of patriotic songs, dancing, recitation, and drama. The performance has themed the history of Bangladesh’s independence starting from the year 1948. The festival was arranged by BUP Cultural Forum. The UAP team was coordinated by Layeqa Bashir, Assistant Professor, BS&H, UAP.

 

Cultural programs marking Independence Day

Marking the Independence & National Day of Bangladesh, the cultural club of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized a celebration program on "freedom from struggle" at UAP Plaza on March 29, 2017. The event featured discussion, music, dance, and poet recitation.

 

Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice-Chancellor, UAP addressed the program while siblings freedom fighters shared their experiences during the liberation war of Bangladesh. Mr. Ruhel, among them, recalled the significant role of a teenage girl who used to help the freedom fighters to pass the river by boat in Sylhet. Later he urged the new generation to love the country and respect the freedom fighters.

 

Among others, Qayum Reza Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), Members, BOT, Professor Dr. M. R. Kabir, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Air Commodore (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, Mr. Sarwar R Chowdhury, Registrar, Heads, faculty, students, and staff have attended the function.
