Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury passes Away


It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Anhar Ahmed Chowdhury, a distinguished businessman and esteemed member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). Mr. Chowdhury passed away on May 21, 2024, at 10:00 PM at United Hospital, Dhaka, after a brave battle with leukemia. He was 74 years old.

Mr. Chowdhury’s dedication to the UAP Board of Trustees was marked by his sincere contributions to the growth and progress of the university since its inception. Beyond his work with UAP, he was an active Rotarian and served as the Secretary General of the Gulshan Society from 2012 to 2014. His commitment to community service was exemplary and widely recognized.

Born to the late Abul Hasanat Chowdhury of "Bhatipara House" in Sylhet city's Dargah Gate, Mr. Chowdhury was a respected figure both in his hometown and in Dhaka. He was known for his warm smile, amicable nature, and unwavering dedication to social welfare. His compassionate and benevolent spirit touched many lives.

Mr. Chowdhury is survived by two sons, a daughter, and numerous well-wishers. His passing has cast a profound shadow of grief over his family, friends, and all who knew him, both in Bangladesh and abroad.

The Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) will be held today after Zuhr prayers at the Gulshan Society Jame Mosque, followed by his burial at Banani Graveyard, as per family sources.
